OUR STORY
A New Journey Begins
Written by Pastor Michael Perkins • January 25, 2021
Planting and pastoring River City Hope Church and working with Dr. Powell and The Kentucky District over the last 5 years has been one of the greatest honors of our lives. We didn’t know that pastoring a church could be this much fun.
We have seen The Lord do so many incredible things. From our first Sunday at Crestwood, to becoming the Pastors of Crestwood, to leasing River City’s building, to remodeling the original side, to our launch, to moving to Sunday mornings, to Crestwood merging with River City, to the remodel of our new sanctuary, to waiting patiently on The Lord to sell the Crestwood property, to planning and hosting a national women’s conference, to seeing growth, there has been a lot of amazing things that we have witnessed.
Since July we have felt The Lord’s prompting to be near our family, which we did our best to pray away, but that prompting would not go away. And after putting out a few fleeces, which The Lord miraculously answered, we have decided this is what The Lord is asking us to do, to relocate to be near family in Illinois.
We didn’t come to this decision lightly or easily. This transition isn’t about ministry promotion, it isn’t because we are upset because we aren’t at all, and it isn’t because we have had something happen. We believe it’s us simply responding to God’s Voice.
River City Hope Church is the greatest church on the planet and it’s filled with people that we love more than we could ever express. They are wildly passionate about pursuing the Presence of God. This company of people has loved my family deeply and has trusted us implicitly while we have pursued God’s Presence while often being misunderstood by others.
We believe River City Hope Church’s best days are ahead and we believe that April and I’s ceiling will be the floor of the next pastors.
As founding pastors of a church plant, it’s painful to leave something we started behind because it’s so beautiful and we love it so much. With that being said, we believe that River City Hope Church is good soil and we will continue to sow our prayers and our finances into it because we believe that we really do reap what we sow. We believe in this company of people, this Revival Family. We believe in the future of River City Hope Church.
What will ministry look like for us? We don’t know yet. We don’t have anything lined up. We are simply going to take the time to pray and listen to what The Lord has for us, whether it’s to go fully itinerant (I have several meetings already scheduled), or whether it’s to plant another church, start a Prayer Room/Equipping Center, or something else, we simply do not know. We know that Illinois will be our home base and that we are just going to seek The Lord.
February 14th will be our last Sunday at River City Hope Church. I’d ask that you pray for River City Hope Church during this time. We love this church and it’s people deeply. And pray for my family as we seek The Lord’s direction in this next season of ministry.

A Love Letter to our Revival Family
Written by April Perkins • February 14, 2021

The past 4 years at River City Hope Church have been the most fruitful, fulfilling and enjoyable time that Michael Perkins and I’ve ever had in our 14+ years in ministry. It’s been transformative in our family, our marriage and our personal life with King Jesus.

Parachute Planting a church in Louisville, Kentucky wasn’t on our radar until Yahweh burdened our hearts almost 5 years ago. Everything RCHC is Today is because of Yahweh’s immeasurable Goodness and the beautiful Revival family of Wildly Passionate Jesus Lovers that find themselves there week-in-and-week-out...living life together with one heart.

Revival Family, thank you for loving us so well. We are overwhelmed by how well you have honored us and showered us with love and affection over these past years. You are and will forever be family to us. You are all deeply loved by us and will be missed.

It has been the greatest honor to pastor River City Hope Church for Michael and I. We didn’t know ministry could be this fun and fulfilling.

Michael and I are praying for all of you and for River City Hope Church. The best days are ahead!
We love you and look forward to visiting.
Sincerely,
April
